On a rainy, rainy day

(Continuing from the movies x3)

Maria was still clutching her small purse as the two got nearer to the cabins. The weather seemed to be completely against them; dense fog covering the night sky and rain falling mercilessly from the heavens. Suddenly, Grant stopped and for a moment she wondered why. Then she remembered the dip in the dirt road that was now completely flooded with muddy rain water. "Oh, fun," she sighed when she heard Grant voice his thoughts about wether it was too deep. "I bet it is," she agreed. She really wasn't sure if there was another way into their addition other than this road. "What're we going to do now?" she asked.

"I don't know," Grant spoke at last, "I guess we could just wait it out." Woods were on either side of the dip in the road, making it almost impossible to get by. He let his hands fall from the steering wheel and to his sides, his chest heaving a sigh. The rain seemed endless around here. He just wanted to change into his wolf form and run through the rain to get his pelt crusted with mud and dirt but he knew that that wouldn't really appeal to Maria. He took the key out of the ignition, knowing that the both of them would be warm enough without a heater, being a werewolf. Grant looked over at Maria, his face lightening. He leaned in and let their lips touch softly. Grant had wanted to do this ever since he imprinted on her, but he wasn't sure if she felt the same way and so pulled reluctantly back.

Maria returned his sigh, and wrapped her arms around herself instinctively when he took they keys out of the ignition. She wasn't cold; she would be warm in the middle of a blizzard; it just gave her comfort. And Grant's scent that was rapidly filling the cabin of his truck was also a reassurance. She heard him shifting his position slightly, so she turned and was surprised when his face was so close to hers, his lips touching hers gently. For a moment her head spun, but after getting a grip on reality she realized what was actually happening. Her wide eyes relaxed and then closed, enjoying the feeling that coursed through her at that moment, and she leaned in slightly. It was a movement she didn't control; her body just did it. But then that feeling, that warm and wonderful feeling was taken away as Grant pulled away. Maria didn't want it to end; she wanted to feel that emotion again, but she let him retreat. When he broke away, Maria's breath came out in not a sigh, but more like she had been holding it in for a while. Her heartbeat had quickened, and she hoped desperately that he couldn't hear it as loud as she could. It was practically pounding in her ears. "Thank you," she murmured quietly, then mimiked Grant's approach before and ceased his lips once more.

Grant looked up from pulling away to see Maria's pretty face with a look of worry on it. He frowned but then his expression softened when he felt her lips on his again. Grant could feel his heart pounding hard in his chest, and hoped that Maria couldn't hear it as loud as he could. His mind was soaring, thinking a lot at once. Images flashed through his mind, of the first time Grant met Maria which was also when they had imprinted on each other, all the summers they spent getting used to the fact that they could change into an animal, everything that he could remember about her. Even when they first met the two reasons that they could change. He opened his brown eyes to see the rain ceasing and the clouds giving way to the moon.

Maria wished that they weren't in the confines of his truck; it made the position a little awkward. But this was a kiss, nonetheless. And it was Grant that she was sharing it with. It seemed like forever ago since they first met. She grinned, still remembering that moment of complete awe and terror that she felt when she first saw him. Right when she laid her eyes on him she was instantly hooked, and she knew it was the same with him. It was the weird hitch of being a werewolf. You were bonded for life, no matter what happened. With some werewolves, they remained good friends for the rest of their life, but others used it to boost their relationship with one another. Her green eyes opened for only a moment to see moonlight. Moon? The clouds must be scattering above, then. The rainfall had definately lessened, making small trails as they ran lazily down the windows, racing with one another. Maria pulled back only a little bit, then withdrew to her seat, staring at her hands which she crossed together in her lap. "I'm, uh... Sorry about that," she said nervously. It wasn't like her to be nervous, but the emotion she had just felt was strange and new to her.

(ok sorry for not posting this long... just had a lot of things going. We'll kinda fast-forward things a little bit...)

Grant smiled warmly and leaned over. He kissed Maria lightly on the top of her forehead, wanting to reassure her nervousness. "It's fine," he said teasingly, his pearl-white grin spreading on his face. He sat back in his seat, just now registering that the water had ceased and they were free to pass through. The truck revved to life with the touch of his key in the ignition, traveling over the dirt-now mud-road. The night sky was still there, the stars spread out across the sky like a chocolate chip cookie. That sounded really good right then but Grant didn't say anything. He came to a stop in the front of Maria's house, seeing that the clock in his truck showed eight forty-five. They hadn't been out for long but Grant knew that it had been fun. No runs down the dirty path that led around the cabins. No secrets revealed in one single thought. It should always be that way. Just calm and fun.... but he knew it couldn't. He reluctantly snuck a look at Maria, wishing that he could see her before he was to pick her up the next day for school. He unlocked the doors and hopped out of the tall Suzuki Equator, jogging around the front of it to help Maria out. The night revealing shadows all around them, which made Grant shiver a little. It was the kind of night where you wouldn't like to be alone in the woods.

Maria inhaled deeply through her nose, letting the scent of Grant's cologne fill her sences as they continued down the road. Her forehead was still tingling from his last movement, and the butterflies in her stomach hadn't lessened at all. She was sad that their time together had ended; she'd had an awesome time with him. As he pulled up to the front of her house, she could just imagine her mom inside waiting to pounce on her unsuspecting daughter, wanting every detail about what had happened, and Maria blushed lightly. She and her mom were best friends; they went shopping together, they told eachother everything... She just wasn't sure about this one. Maybe Emily would let it slip this time. Maria grinend to herself as she saw Grant jog over to her side and help her out of the truck; he was so sweet. She didn't know how she was ever lucky enough to have him. She hopped out of the cab of his ginormic truck, clutching her tiny purse and box of uneaten candies as she did so. She was just glad that the rain had stopped. She smiled up at him and took his hand. "Thanks for tonight," she said. "I had an awesome time." She raised up on her toes a bit to help, and she gave him a swift kiss.

Grant smiled at Maria's appreciation, taking her hand. He was about to lead her to her house when he felt her kiss. It ended soon but he was okey with that. Grant smirked after the kiss was over, seeing a motion in the window of Maria's house. Whoever it was quickly disappeared from sight so Grant strayed his brown eyes over to Maria. He took in the scent of her most used but sweet perfume, catching her eyes. He smiled gently and led her to walk up the front steps. "I guess I'll pick you up tommorow for school then," Grant grinned. He caught site of someone out of the corner of his eye starting to open the front door.

Maria nodded happily and turned to open the door. Just as she expected as soon as she closed the door her mother was right behind her, hammering questions every which way. Maria laughed and held up a hand to pause Emily's rambling. "He took me to a movie, bought the tickets, we got stuck in the rain, then he brought me home." she made sure to leave out the part where he kissed her, and how her heart was still beating happily from the touch. Emily smiled down at her daughter and embraced her in a tight hug. "He really is a sweet boy. I'm glad you two are together," Emily said quietly. Maria nodded and pulled away from her mom's tight embrace, then made her way to her room. She was exhausted. she hadn't gotten any sleep the night before because of... Nick. Her mind seethed at the name, and she immediately pushed the thought of her friend away. she wasn't going to ruin the mood for herself. Instead, she undressed and stepped in the shower again, letting the hot water wash away her fears and worries and let her focus on what was more important to her; Grant.

Grant stole one last glance at Maria's form on the other side of the closing door, turning to get in his truck. The rain that had been there just a half hour ago had left it's little droplets on the Suzuki Equator making the it have the luminosity of a car headlight. Grant sheilded his eyes, his grin almost spread from ear to ear as he slid through the door and sat down. Maria's kiss replayed over and over in his mind like a memory that would never leave his mind, which was just what it was. He drove up to his house, just around the corner. The sawdust had been blown onto the sidewalk on either side of the little cabin, in thier neighbor's yards. He laughed silently to himself knowing it was Russel's doings. Grant pulled into the garage, noting that his gardian/adopted brother's truck was gone. He must still be out.

Much later, Grant was sitting on the counter of the kitchen, gulping down a jug of water while waiting for his favorite kind of noodles to cool off. After getting his mouth burned by the flaming pasta, he was now thankful for the cold refrigerator sitting in the corner of the room. Little smiling pictures of him, Russel, and then Maria greeted his wondering eyes. He sighed contently, opening up the door and checking on the noodles. They were perfect. He scooped them up, pan and all, sitting down and eating them in silence. Not anything in the house moved. Right now was a time that for most normal people, their dog or cat would come padding in and start rubbing on there legs but Grant was no normal person. If any animal came close to him, they would growl a little, smelling his werewolf scent and know that that wasn't his only form. After getting his meal in, Grant settled down to watch football in the den and relax after a long day's work and fun too.
