The First Day

Sessi watched David leave the room thinking that maybe Maria and Kelly had scared them. She would have loved to join him for lunch at this time, but what would she say as he was eating human food and she wasn’t. Looking at his number she put it in her cell phone and cursed in her mind at Maria and Kelly. Feeling hungry for blood though her eyes were darkening; she had to leave and get some blood. But it was her first day, having everyone in the Dragomir family go home would make them look bad. Sighing, she heads out and sat under a stairwell in the halls.

“Hope they get something to eat. I would hate to bring David over this weekend and have them bite him.” Sessi leans her head against the window watching the rain come down. Wishing that she had followed David, but figured it would seem like she was following him. She couldn’t help it though; the only person she ever met whom she could not read like an open book. “I’ll invite him this weekend. Just probably will tell the others to behave. Oh great I’m talking to myself now.” Rubbing her head. The sounds of raindrops falling.

The end of the day was near as school was almost over as Sessi sat in Algebra class bored out of her mind. She could tell that the twins and her sister had gone hunting and won’t be back till probably nightfall. Sighing she waited for the bell to ring since she will have to walk even though Wesley said that he is sorry to her in his head. her black heel tapped on the ground as she did all the work she was supposed to.

David sat down at a random lunch table with people he'd never seen before, wishing dearly that Sessi had come with him. But he'd handled days like this before and he wasn't going to give up now. THe lunch was average. Slightly cold food and questionable meat were the norm. After lunch passed, David attended each of his remaining classes, hoping that Sessi would be in one of them, but, alas, she was not. His mother hugged him and talked to him about his day when he entered his new house after school ended, but David was uninterested. He just wanted to see Sessi. He wandered to his room and took out his guitar, strumming whatever came to mind.

The rest of the school week passed in the same way for David. He went to school and came back from school, only to wait for school to begin again. THe only breaks in the mundane routine were the two classes he spent with Sessi, talking and learning more about each other. THose were the only times David felt truly happy. She was his only friend. He couldn't wait to do their project together, and as he walked to the bus Friday afternoon, his mind was buzzing with anticipation.

The rest of Sessi’s day wasn’t bad as she had to run home half way before Wesley picked them up. Nothing seemed interesting at home to her as she wanted to speak more with the human named David. The one that she couldn’t find with her mind, but instead her sense of smell. Maria and Kelly had not snagged any humans when they were in Portsburg, so Sessi wasn’t as mad as she would have been. Time did not move fast enough for her as she sat in her room singing a lullaby.

For the next week, all Sessi did was class work and speak to David. None of her family members had gone to the big city or hunted either; it was turning out to be the best week for school so far to her. Friday came at last as the weekend came; her whole day filled with thoughts of David as well as others thoughts in her mind. Her black hair wavy today, going down to the end of her shoulder blades. Honey eyes still the same due to hunting after school days; on her body is her favorite black dress that she wanted to wear. Seeing that the day was almost over, and people were getting on the buses to head home. (Hopes that is right) A thought in her head was still there as she had forgotten to tell David about going to her house or the woods for their homework assignment in Music writing. Her hands pulled out a blackberry phone from her purse where she texted David to try and catch him before he left campus.

Reads: “David when r we doing that assignment? Tomorrow?”

Standing there after sending the message she waited for a reply as the twins and her sisters were telling their teams they can’t play or continue being on the squad. Though Sessi hated that, she knows that they want nothing more than to have a regular life. Eyes still on her phone she had more on her mind than she wanted as two guys next to her, stared at her wondering if she would go out with them. The two humans didn’t interest her, David did.

David had just sat on his bus seat when his cell phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and looked at the screen.

He grinned and read the text quickly. His fingers flew over the keys, excited to talk to her. He sent the message which read,
Fine with me, but my mom's having people over at our house for work, so can we do it outside somewhere? I think it'll be nice tomorrow.
He looked out the bus window to see if he could spot Sessit, but she was nowhere to be seen, at least not from this angle. He leaned against the seat, anticipating the buzz of his phone that was sure to come.

Receiving a reply she noticed the buses not far from where she stood and knew that David was on one of them. The twins had not come out yet, so she walked towards them reading the message and replying.

“There is a nice clearing in the woods? Nice too.”

Stopping on the sidewalk; she turned around and noticed her siblings coming out the buses side of the building cause too many people were coming out the other side. They walked towards her with smiles as Wesley draped his arm over his older sister’s shoulder as the other is on Kelly’s. Waiting for the reply as she knew that if it was sunny she was screwed this weekend for going outside with David when all she wanted to do was see him. It drove her insane about how much she thinks about the human she has come to really like more than anything as the twins tease her at home about it on a daily bases.

David read her suggestion and texted her back in agreement.

That would work. Text me tomorrow with directions when you now what time.

He closed his phone and slipped it back in his pocket. The bus was beginning to pull out of the parking lot to take him home. Well, to his house anyway. He wondered about the clearing inthe woods. It must be near where she lives or she wouldn't have known about it, he mused thoughtfully. He'd find out one way or another. The bus ride home was uneventful as was the rest of his night. Reading, drawing, ad a movie took up most of the time. All he really wanted to do was see Sessi again. It was driving him crazy, he felt obsessed. Nothing like this had ever happened to him before, and he wasn't sure he liked it. But what could he do? His heart was doing backflips.

Wesley smiles as Julian escorts the girls to his car like a gentleman. Watching the buses leave, she saw David sitting in a seat but didn’t wave. Smiling, she is glad that he got on the bus alright. Putting his head of curly golden brown hair against her wavy black hair that hung down like an angel, Wesley’s thoughts of being an over protective brother might kick in soon.
“If he hurts your heart, I’ll break his neck. Better I’ll send Maria after him.” Wesley warned her as he stood there with his long arm still draped over her shoulder.
“No. I don’t think that will happen. Sort of reminds me of how you twins met the girls.” Sessi grinned as they walk to the car. “Just don’t attack him. We are going to meet in that clearing in the woods.”
“Aww. My sister gots a-”
“No. No. We are doing homework. And you guys are taking Maria hunting. She has been in a foul mood lately.” Sessi told him with a sigh. “She needs an attitude adjustment.”
Getting in their car with Wesley in the driver seat and Sessi between them in the front since one of the belts in the backseat broke. They drove off heading home.
The next day Sessi text directions to David as she couldn’t wait to see him again. Hearing that it might let a little sunshine in, she doesn’t know how this will work. But she had to, her heart and mind had to see the human that has drawn her close.

David was in the middle of lunch on Saturday when his phone buzzed. he leapt off his seat, knocking the chair to the floor and dashed for the recently unpacked coffee table. He snatched up the phone and flipped it open. He read Sessi's message and grinned. Finally. He texted her back simply saying he'd be there, and set the phone back down. He looked up to find his mother frozen halfway down the stairs, giving him a strange look. He realized she must have seen his frantic dash and blushed. His mother's eyes travelled from David to the wooden chair lying on the ground and cocked an eyebrow. David coughed and scratched his head, wandering back to the kitchen to pick up the chair and clear up his breakfast. His mother just shook her head and went back upstairs, not wanting to know. David grinned and called up to her that he was leaving to go do homework with someone from school. He dashed out the front door before she could ask questions, making sure to grab his guitar and backpack on his way out.

He followed Sessi's directions until he found the clearing in the woods. The woods were shadowy today, but the sky promised sun later in the day. He leaned against a tree and waited for Sessi, knowing he was probably early. The clearing inspired him though, it made him want to sing. So while he waited, he took out his guitar and started playing a soft song that drifted through the woods. He forgot what he was doing there, and got lost in the song as he played.
